My name is Samantha Rodriguez I am a married
mother of 4, and a resident/Spa owner in the city of Imperial. I have been in the Beauty
and Bodywork business for a total of 27 years. Along with being a
Certified Birthing Doula, I am a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified in
Kinesio taping, and also State Licensed in complete Nail Care and Spa
Services.
I
began my Doula journey in Dec 2009 when a co-worker asked me to look into the
requirements and what it would take to become a Doula, so I could assist her
with the birth of her son in San Diego. Unfortunately I missed the birth due to his (the Baby’s)
eagerness to meet his parent. It was a very quick and healthy delivery.
I enrolled with DONA INTERNATIONAL in January
2010 and started the required courses to become an Internationally Certified
Birthing Doula. In 2014 I completed all
my requirements and received my International Certification. I
have an established working relationship with many great local Doctors, Midwives
and Nurses who will help continue my birthing education.
During my research
and enrollment phase, I realized that I actually began my Doula journey 28
years ago when a young girlfriend asked me to be her birthing coach. In fact
several other women over the next few years requested that I coach them with
the birth of their children and I was honored to witness
a Cesarean Section. Little did I know that birthing was in my
heart and that it would be my future profession.
My
realization partnered with knowledge via DONA INTERNATIONA advanced my
confidence to help mothers experience a shorter, healthier, more enjoyable
birthing endeavor. I’m honored anytime I’ve been chosen to travel the birthing
journey with these brave women who have decided to be proactive in their lives
and the deliveries of their babies.
